The classic peruan alpaca yarn
"Quito"
A very important breed purpose of the Incas was to improve the quality and quantity of the alpaca fiber. The Incas have accomplished major breeding advancements. One sees this through the wild Vincuja that produces 200-300gr. of fleece in 2 years as opposed to the alpaca from which one can recieve 6kg of fleece in 1 year.
The alpaca fiber ist he result of the adaptation to the andean climate. The temperature in the Andes is extremely inconsistent and with intensive Sun and ice cold wind adding to the bad weather. To survive in this rough weather alpacas are provided with a special protection. Throughout many years, alpacas have developed a light fleece that is water-repellent and can effectively resist sunlight.
Alpaca fiber is valuable. There are practically no negative attributes to alpaca fleece. Mother nature has developed the ideal fiber to protect the gentle alpaca. The spanish author Bernabe Cobo wrote about alpacafiber in his book called History of the New World(1653):“Alpaca, un cálido don de dios a los Hombres“(Alpaca, a gift of warmth from god to mankind.)
*The fiber has mikroscopic airpockets that create light clothes with good isolation. The fiber warms during cold temperature and can also expell heat. (it helps sweating)

El objetivo de los incas en domesticar la vicuña era en mejorar la calidad y cantidad de su fibra. El resultado fue excelente, ya que a la vicuña se le gana solo unos 200- 300g de fibra por año, mientras que la alpaca 6 Kg.
Para sobrevivir en los climas andinos, las alpacas, están equipadas con un pelaje extraordinario.
La lana de alpaca es muy valiosa, no hay características negativas que uno puede encontrar en ella. La madre tierra desarrollo la fibra ideal y se las dio a las alpacas. Como sita el español Bernabé Cobo en su libro “History of the new world (1653): “Alpaca, un cálido don de Dios a los hombres”
Nuestra alpaca es muy suave y tiene entre 15 a 25 micrones
Al ser una fibra natural se debe lavar a mano y con agua templada. También es posible en lavarropas automáticos en la función de hilados naturales.
